Kaminari-Mon (Thunder Gate) is located in Asakusa, a famous tourist spot. Its official name is "Fu-Raijin-Mon". Facing the gate, the wind god (Fujin) is on the right and the thunder god (Raijin) on the left. The symbol of Asakusa, the "big lantern," has a great impact. Sensoji Temple is a "temple," so jump over the threshold of the gate without stepping on it. There are many theories as to why this is done, but some say it simply hurts the building, while others say that people don't step on the threshold because it acts like a ward to keep out bad things.
